Web

Training & resources for journalists, connecting them to best practices, resources, and support around election coverage.

They needed a website created in time to launch their efforts for the 2020 election — the sooner, the better. They turned to Big Sea for a multi-stage website implementation.

An agile, collaborative approach to web development

This web design project was unique in its three-phased approach, which allowed us to execute the work in accordance with the client’s timeline and needs. Since the organization was finding their footing as we were building the website, we were able to work very closely and collaboratively as a truly agile team. We played a strong role in advising Election SOS on functionality and user experience, and became a true partner throughout the process.

Custom mentorship and coaching directory

An important component of ElectionSOS is the community network where journalists who are experts in election reporting can offer mentorship to journalists around the world covering elections who don’t have as much experience. We created a user-friendly mentorship and coaching directory that provided the ability to filter by location, subject and category, connect directly to other members, and access via mobile browser.

Branding

We took their existing logo and, in addition to polishing it up, transformed it into a full brand, including a custom illustration and color palette. The result is a website that is distinctly election-related, yet unique to this organization.

“Responsive to our needs and flexible, very much appreciate the thoughtful questions they ask.”
